PCI Geomatica v. 10.3 Software Modules Tutorial
Automated Airphoto Orthorectification and Mosaicing Model
Geomatica 10.3 introduces new algorithms in the Visual Modeler interface to facilitate fully automated AirPhoto Orthorectification and Mosaicing workflow. New algorithms include CAMIMPORT, CAMEXPORT, AUTOFID, EOIMPORT, EOEXPORT, GCPIMPORT, CHIPEXT, RAW2CHIP and APMODEL. Below is a visual modeler example for automated Airphoto Orthorectification and Mosaicing workflow.
  • 1.0 Geomatica Modeler

    1.1 Data Import

Start Geomatica Modeler and create a new project using File | New Model. Use View | Module Librarian –
Algorithm Library– PCI-Predefined – All Programs – IMPORT and drag two IMPORT modules on the canvas
to import both a series of 4 AirPhotos (in batch mode) and a corresponding DEM file which is required to run

orthorectification in  a later step. Note that you can also access commonly used algorithms using your
mouse: simply right click on the grey canvas area and choose “Common Modules”.

  • The GCPREAD algorithm is used to import existing GCPs. Set the Batch parameters to read GCP of all four images. 4 Airphoto and GCPs are ‘Accumulated’ individually before passing to next step.
1.2 Create OrthoEngine Project – CRPROJ CRPROJ is used to create an OrthoEngine Project for the 4 Airphoto images and corresponding GCPs. Define an appropriate ‘Output Projection’ and ‘Model Type’ in the CRPROJ input parameters.

1.3 Import Camera Calibration Parameters - CAMIMPORT CAMIMPORT is a new addition in Modeler. Once OrthoEngine project file is created, user can import camera calibration parameters from an XML file into the project.

Geomatica X is the extension of PCI Geomatics’ image-centric desktop technology into the world of custom geospatial solutions. It provides a flexible development environment for users to build highly automated and customized workflow solutions, such as those used for orthorectification, mosaicking, DEM extraction, or image classification. Each Geomatica X solution is built from a library of flexible components, provided in logical packages called ProPacks, which can be used to create custom applications using the PCI Professional Software Development Kit (ProSDK). The ProSDK utilises Python, C/C++ and Java languages for efficient scripting and graphics interfacing.

More information is available on the PCI website.

GIMS: Geomatica Image Management System The Geomatica Image Management System enables organizations to effectively manage and access geospatial data. Developed in partnership with Oracle, GIMS is a robust, enterprise-wide solution designed to handle the storage, processing, and access of all geospatial data types, including aerial photos, satellite images, scanned maps, metadata tables, basic text, and more.

    How it works:

    1. Load data into a central database --- using the GeoRaster ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tool.
    2. Store geospatial data, along with associated metadata and feature attributes --- using Oracle 10g as a platform.
    3. Process and share data --- using Geomatica, PCI Geomatics’ complete geospatial software.
    4. Access, edit and share data through the internet --- using Geomatica Webserver or iSMART by eSpatial (a PCI partner software).

More information about the GIMS on the PCI website.

    GeoConference
GeoConference® is a live geospatial meeting system that operates via the Internet and facilitates connections to standard GIS and mapping systems, allowing data to be viewed simultaneously from many remote locations.

    What is GeoConference?

Do you need to view maps and images in real-time with colleagues who are located in remote locations?

Do you wish your GIS could be part of your teleconferencing system, so that you could view maps and images during teleconferences?

Are you looking for technology to add to your teleconferencing system for viewing and annotating maps and images?PCI Geomatics GeoConference® is an innovative way for your organization to share maps and images with distant colleagues and clients in real time. It is a complete geographic information-based conferencing system. Create users, add data sources, and you'll have everything you need to hold GeoConferencing sessions — right out of the box. We offer a unique enterprise class solution built around two main components that match IT standards: the GeoConference Client application and GeoConference Server software.

Users access and participate in Internet mapping conference sessions via the GeoConference Client. The component is thin, easy to deploy and may be freely distributed with no restrictions. It’s easy to communicate and collaborate with external partners. The GeoConference Server software component plays a central role. It acts as the bridge between the participants using the GeoConference Client. The GeoConference Server software stores participant expertise and situational findings. Geodata privacy is fully protected. The data is never replicated. PCI supports a variety of industry-standard geodata and image and Internet map services.
